        • Age limits: The minimum rental age is 21 years. Young driver surcharges for renting a car are common in many locations, including Guadeloupe. Typically, these surcharges apply to drivers under a certain age, often 25 years old. Drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 are more likely to face additional fees when renting a car. This information is visible in the search engine with Orbit Car Hire.
        • International Driving Permit:   to provide an international driver's license. Drivers with a license issued outside of the EU will need to have an international driving license as well as their standard driving license. You must have both licenses with you at all times while driving a car in Guadeloupe.
        • Additional papers:   A credit card in the name of the main driver needs to be presented. A security deposit may be required while renting a car so the credit card must have sufficient funds. You can find details about the security deposit listed while booking the vehicle as well as on your voucher. It is important to have a valid driving license with the name of the main driver as well as additional drivers when it applies. You will need to have identification with you such as a passport and ID cards. When you pick up your rental car you need to have your voucher with you.
        • Additional requirements:  Warning triangle, First Aid Kit, Spare Wheel and Tools, Fire Extinguisher, Reflective Vest
        • Children in the car:  Child Restraint System (CRS): Children must be secured in an appropriate child restraint system according to their age, weight, and height. This typically means using a car seat, booster seat, or booster cushion. The specific regulations regarding child restraint systems can vary depending on the age and size of the child, so it's essential to adhere to the guidelines provided by the manufacturer and local laws. Seat Belt Usage: Ensure that all passengers, including children, are wearing seat belts or are appropriately secured in child restraint systems at all times while the vehicle is in motion. Age and Size Requirements: Children under a certain age or size may be required to use specific types of child restraints. For example, infants and toddlers typically require rear-facing car seats, while older children may transition to forward-facing car seats, booster seats, or seat belts based on their size and age. Prohibition of Front Seat Usage: In many jurisdictions, it's illegal for children to sit in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with airbags if they are under a certain age or size. This is because airbags can pose a significant risk to young children in the event of a crash.
        • Driving side of the road: Right-hand side
        • Lights: it's mandatory to use headlights during certain times and conditions, as per local regulations and common road safety practices. Here are some general guidelines:

Nighttime Driving: When driving at night, headlights must be turned on. This is a standard safety practice to improve visibility for both the driver and other road users.

Low Visibility Conditions: In conditions of reduced visibility due to factors such as fog, rain, snow, or mist, headlights should be used to make the vehicle more visible to others on the road.

Tunnel Driving: When driving through tunnels, headlights are typically required to be turned on regardless of the time of day. This helps maintain visibility and safety in enclosed spaces.

Dusk and Dawn: Some regions may require headlights to be used during the periods of dusk and dawn, especially if visibility is reduced due to lighting conditions.

        • General speed limits: Urban Areas: The speed limit is typically 50 kilometers per hour (31 miles per hour) within urban areas unless otherwise posted.
