10 Best Nude Beaches in Europe

Nudist beaches abound in Europe. Believe it or not, these beaches are the most beautiful, seductive and cleanest beaches you will ever experience.

Let's talk about Europe's awe-inspiring nudist beaches. If you want to go to the beach in your birthday suit where no one bats an eyelid, you've come to the right place, and you'll appreciate our suggestions.

Still a taboo in many places, nudism has become a habit or custom in various parts of Europe. Germans, in particular, have an affinity for nudist or naturist beaches. But interestingly, almost half of Brits would consider taking their clothes off on a beach if they're a regular visitor to nudist beaches or appreciate the feeling of wild beauty and seclusion. It feels like a liberating experience - then you should check out at least one of our top choice nude beaches.

Beach in the sunset

Filaki Beach – Crete, Greece

On the South Coast of Crete, you'll find this nude-friendly beach. Filaki Beach is the only official nude beach in Crete. It doesn't get much more nude-friendly than this. White pebbles and turquoise waters will enchant you, but don't forget to put on sunscreen. Numerous secluded beaches can be found in the same area for those seeking solitude. To get to Filaki, follow the signs to Hotel Vritomaris, turn left, and voila - here you are.

Playa de Ses Illetes – Formentera, Spain

Fine white sand and turquoise clear waters will make you think you are in paradise. Playa de Ses Illetes is a paradise on earth for all nature lovers. It is located on the minor Balearic Islands - south of Ibiza. On the northwest coast of Formentera lies this dream beach. The only disadvantage of this place is that it is crowded in the high season.

Plage de Tahiti – Saint-Tropez, France

This clothing-optional beach, or Pampellone beach, 5 kilometres south of St. Tropez, is visited by 30,000 people annually. Since 1956, when Brigitte Bardot filmed her movie "And God created woman," the Plage de Tahiti has been the magnet par excellence for all celebrities and pop stars. It is considered the most beautiful and seductive beach far and wide. If you want a whole luxury experience, you can stay at the Tahiti Beach Hotel. A room with a view is worth it.

Es Trenc - Mallorca, Spain

Es Trenc is part of the national park so you won't find any hotels or massive buildings here. Caribbean blue waters, white sand, and purity add to the tropical look of this beach. The secluded and unspoiled beach of Es Trenc is located in the south of the island, is 2 km long, and has several spots marked for nudists. So if you like to keep your clothes on, you'll find optional clothing places.

Sali - Dugi Otok, Croatia

If you are looking for peace, tranquillity, and unspoiled living space, Sali is the place for you. Dugi Otok is an ideal escape from the intense pace of modern life. The beaches are mostly rocky, with some cliffs, and surrounded by pine forests. Naturism is practised almost everywhere except on the beaches in the villages. All you need to do is rent a car in Zadar.

Bunculuka, Baška - Krk, Croatia

While some naturist beaches are clothing optional, Bunculuka is entirely nude. The alluring pebble beach is a bathers' paradise. It is exposed to the open sea and surrounded by pine trees. You can enjoy numerous sporting activities on the beach. At the same time, your children can participate in one of the many entertainment programs. Indulge in the finest seafood specialities at Boneta Bistro & Lounge.

Red beach - Crete, Greece

Even if you're not a fan of the nudist culture, you'll enjoy this surreal beach. Take a 20-minute hike from Matala to enjoy the red-coloured sand at this hotspot for nudists. If you want privacy and quiet, the ideal spot is the back beach area. If you wish for refreshments, you can get them at the beach bar.

Ilha Deserta - Olhao, Portugal

One of the most unspoiled beaches in the Algarve region is on an island - Ilha Deserta - which means desert island. And it is. No one lives here, and the only house on the island is a restaurant. A 30-minute walk west from where the ferry arrives, you'll find this peaceful and spotless beach - officially classified as a naturist beach.

Spiaggia di Guvano - Corniglia, Italy

Spiaggia di Guvano is a charming wild beach in Cinque Terre National Park. To reach it, you'll have to go through a forgotten railway tunnel - yes, it is off the beaten track. But once you get it, you will be rewarded with this utopian wonderland.

Koversada - Vrsar, Croatia

The largest camping resort in Europe was established in 1961. Pebbles, stones, rocks, you name it - Koversada has it all. But, of course, it's up to you to choose the part you like best. People with special needs can reach the sea on the main sandy beach, where there is adapted access to the sea.

Naturism or nudism is an act of being naked in designated areas; for many, this is a way of life.

Nudity and naturism have been practised in various forms by different cultures in all periods. However, it was first mentioned in 1778 by Jean Baptiste Luc Planchon and promoted as a means to improve health.

Naturists are advocates of ideals such as respect for nature and health. Therefore, they usually prohibit alcohol, meat, and tobacco products and believe their only reality is nature. In this regard, naturists defend and respect all people as they are, closeness to heart, and last but not least - freedom - the right to be free and the choice not to wear clothes.

Naturism encourages people to embrace and celebrate the beauty of the human body. Some advantages of naturism could be better blood circulation, higher vitamin D intake, and a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease.

Don't forget sunscreen, whatever your viewpoint, philosophy, or attitude towards naturism.
