        Must see places in Croatia

        Korčula Island

The island of Korcula is one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. Although it is quite small, there is an incredible amount of things to do in Korcula. It's easy to see why so many tourists visit Korcula, which is home to ancient sites, a stunning coastline, local wineries, and Marco Polo's birthplace. Many tourists visit the island to see the old town of Korcula, but there are other island destinations that you shouldn't miss. A visit to the cities of Lumbarda and Vela Luka is also a must on the island of Korcula. Most of Korcula's attractions are located within the Old Town. Due to its proximity, the main attractions can be covered in a few hours. On a day trip from Split, visitors have plenty of time to see the sights.

Outside the city walls, a walkway surrounds the city. In addition to the sensational sea views, many of the best restaurants are in Korcula's old town along the east wall. Next to the city gate in the Rotunda is the local Korcula market, where vendors sell seasonal produce. To the city's west, a path follows the bay's shore. On the west side of the bay, opposite the old town, are the Dominican monastery, the church of San Nicolás and the monastery. Look out over the old town from the coast for the absolute best view of the city. One of the best things to do in Korcula is to take advantage of the trails and visit the nearby attractions. The most common option is to visit Hvar or Korcula. This is quite a difficult decision. However, if it has to be one of the others, the decision should be based on interests. Travellers interested in history and wine should visit the island of Korcula. People interested in exploring and swimming should visit Hvar.

        Hvar Island

Out of 1,200 Adriatic islands along the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, the island of Hvar is the most famous. The island, specifically the city of Hvar, has long been known as a glamorous travel destination for posh parties, celebrities, and yacht owners. The island is not just a city. On the north side of the island of Hvar, embedded in a deep bay, is Stari Grad, Croatia, one of the oldest cities on the European continent.

Suppose you're looking for things to do in Hvar that you can't do anywhere else in Croatia, Head over to Stari Grad Plain. The agricultural landscape, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, is divided by stone walls, just as it has been since the country was first colonized by the Greeks 2,400 years ago. The Stari Grad plain is one of the main attractions of Hvar. The plain stretches 6 km from Stari Grad to Vrboska. One of the best things to do in Hvar, Croatia, is to ride a bike and tour the Stari Grad Plain. For a full day, take the northern route from Stari Grad and head to the town of Vrboska. From there, you follow the coastal road to Jelsa. On the way back, take the South Highway (Route 116) back to Stari Grad, and if you finish with enough energy, head up the hill towards Dol before heading back to Stari Grad Old Town.

        Split

Split, on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, feels like a city that time has forgotten. The old centre is unlike anything you've ever seen before. An extensive Roman palace occupies an entire neighbourhood, strengthened after 1,700 years. Over the centuries, this architecture has remained intact and was later incorporated into newer buildings such as the Cathedral of Saint Duje, the heart of which is a 4th-century mausoleum. It takes at least a couple of hours to get to know the old town, and there is no better way to do it than on foot.

Walk to Pjaca Square, where Split's old town hall overlooks an elegant square of gleaming marble tiles and cafes with outdoor seating. The fruit square is also essential since it gets its name from the market held here for centuries. There is a lot of beautiful Renaissance architecture here, vestiges of Split's Venetian era. To see how Split residents live their day, try Marmont Street, which runs down to the water and is lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants at the top. One of the beautiful things about the architecture of old Split is how the old buildings have been reused. The best example is the Cathedral of Split, which was once the Mausoleum of Diocletian. The central part of this structure dates back to AD 350, making St. Duje the oldest cathedral in the world. It is fascinating to see how Roman elements, like the original ring of 24 supporting columns, blend with the characteristics of a Catholic place of worship.

Also, take a moment to see the cathedral's Romanesque wooden doors, which have remained unchanged since 1200. An hour from Split, you will find Krka National Park. The sublime Stradinski Buk is what many people see. It is a large natural pool, 400 by 100 meters, fed by travertine waterfalls at one end and emptied by waterfalls at the other. At this point alone, there are 17 waterfalls, the highest of which is up to 50 meters high. You could waste hours indulging your eyes with this scene: the pool is surrounded by lush greenery and is admired for how the sunlight dances on the swirling water. Make time for the Roški Slap waterfalls and the island of Visovac, where a 15th-century monastery is located.

        Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the most visited and popular city in Croatia. Massive stone walls surround this small medieval town. It is situated in a peaceful area between picturesque mountains on one side and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Adriatic on the other. If you walk through the pedestrian streets of this enchanting city, you can easily see why this stunning location has been featured in many movies and TV shows, including Game of Thrones and the new Star Wars film The Last Jedi.

Another reason Dubrovnik is so famous is that it is so well preserved for a medieval city. Due to its prime location on the Adriatic Sea, Dubrovnik has always been a popular trade route that brought prosperity and wealth to the city. You could walk through all the little streets and alleys of Dubrovnik Old Town in one day. To make the most of your time in Dubrovnik, it would be great to stay at least two days. This will give you time to have truly unique experiences in Dubrovnik. Find out what the ten best things to do in Dubrovnik are.

Large cranes tower over the massive shipyard, while Roman ruins are scattered throughout the old town of Pula. Unlike some historical cities in Croatia, Pula is a tourist destination and an actual working city. You will find many things to do in Pula, Croatia. One of the best things to do in Istria is to taste wine.
