         Driving in Fes

Renting a car in Morocco is undoubtedly the best solution if you want to explore this amazing country properly. Driving here is really a great experience, the roads are usually in a good condition and the landscapes are breathtaking. All you have to do is follow the traffic rules, follow the road signs and you will have no problems driving through Morocco. The cities are well connected. In the big cities, it is a bit more complicated to drive because the traffic can be very heavy, especially during rush hours and high season because many tourists rent a car in Morocco and drive through the cities. There are also many scooters, donkeys, buses, camels, packed carts, and pedestrians on the roads. This means you must always watch the road and be patient.

If you want to explore the city center of Fes properly, it is best to park your car in the parking lot of your hotel or apartment and explore the city center on foot or combine walking with using public transportation. After exploring the city center, you can get back in your car and explore Fes and its surroundings according to your own plan and at your own pace. Buckle up and drive safely!

          • Age limits: The minimum age to rent a car is 21 years old and with some suppliers for people over 75 years of age. There is no young drivers fee for any car groups. This information is visible in the search engine with Orbit Car Hire.
          • International Driving Permit: An International Driving Permit is required in addition to a National Driving License if the National Driving License you or any of the Additional Drivers hold is not clearly identifiable as a Driving License, eg, it is in a non-Latin alphabet (eg Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Japanese). It can also depend on the country or car rental company you are renting with. If you have found a car on our website, you can press the rental terms link from the supplier for more information about driving license requirements
          • Additional papers: You will need to have identification with you such as a passport and ID cards. When you pick up your rental car you need to have your voucher with you.
          • Additional requirements: Glasses (in case you need glasses, you must always have a spare pair in the car), light bulbs (are usually already in the car and are provided by the car rental company), 2 warning triangles, a First aid kit, fire extinguisher.
          • Children in the car: Children under the age of 0 are prohibited from traveling in the front seat, and must be seated at the rear with a seatbelt tightly fastened or in a safety seat (depending on the child's age). The law in Morocco requires children's car seats for all children of all ages. The safety seat should be a rear-facing seat, a forward-facing seat, or a booster seat based on the exact age and weight of the child.
          • Driving side of the road: Right hand
          • Lights: If you are from the UK you need Headlamp converters (stickers you put on your headlights when you're driving on the right, so your lights don't dazzle motorists coming the other way)
          • General speed limits: Speed limits vary depending on where you are driving in Morocco. The speed is measured in kilometers per hour (kph), which might be a bit confusing for someone who's not used to the metric system. Speed limits in Morocco are: Urban areas: 60 kmph (40 mph), Open roads: 100 kmph (62 mph), Motorways or Expressways: 100 kmph (62 mph)

Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country in North Africa, in the Maghreb region. It is a country with many different faces, and you can really see and do many different things here. Morocco faces the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Morocco also claims the Spanish exclaves of Ceuta, Melilla, and Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera, as well as several small Spanish-controlled islands off its coast. The country's official religion is Islam, and its official languages are Arabic and Berber, a Moroccan dialect of Arabic. Many people also speak French. This unique country is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. You can feel the Arab world mixed with European cultural influence. This can be felt in every corner of the country and gives a special charm to Morocco, which is becoming more and more popular with tourists from all over the world.

A road trip through Morocco can be a great experience, but you should be well-informed before coming here and be prepared and organized with a good plan. There are really many different things to see and do, and you should know what to look for and where to go if you do not want to spend too much time searching for the perfect places for your tastes.

The largest city in the country is Casablanca, which is also one of the most popular cities in the country, especially among European tourists, but also among tourists from the US and other parts of the world. This is also thanks to the popular classic movie Casablanca, which was filmed here in the largest Moroccan city.

Many people say that Morocco is a classic road trip country, which means that it is an ideal place for a road trip, even for tourists and travelers who do not have much experience with road trips.
