Travelling with kids can be tricky. It starts with the eternal question: where? Where should I take my family to have the best family vacation possible? Not to mention all the packing, the tantrums, the worries, all the stopovers, the diapers, the health issues, the questions and wondering when is the right time and when is the worst time to travel. That's why, for anyone travelling with kids or teens, we've created a list of places that will make your trip more enjoyable.
Family holidays in Paris
Paris is the city that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. Yes, even if you are a full-time mom or dad. Surprisingly or not, it's a place where your kids will have fun. Every trip with kids is complicated in some way, but trust us, you can handle this trip. Besides Disneyland, Paris offers entertainment for your kids such as Puppet shows and pony rides at Luxembourg Gardens, cooking classes for kids, Aquarium de Paris, and many kid-friendly restaurants.
When to go to Paris:
The best time of year to visit Paris with kids in spring. Although Paris has a mild climate, there is a lot of concrete here, and that makes it very uncomfortable in the summer and on hot days. To avoid problems with the little ones, plan your family vacation to Paris for April or May. For the Easter holidays, Paris could work like a charm. Beautiful trees and gardens, pleasant temperatures for strolling, maybe you can sit down for a cup of café and a croissant for the kids.
Where to stay with the family when in Paris?
Since Paris is huge and the metro might make some parts of the city feel uncomfortable if you're travelling with a family, it's best to rent a car and explore the City of Lights. If you're wondering where to stay, we'd recommend looking for an apartment or hotel somewhere in the city centre.
While the Montparnasse neighbourhood near the Tower, the Invalides, the Louvre, and the Champs-Elysées might be a bit more expensive, there's absolutely no reason to avoid the city centre with your family. Quite the contrary. For those travelling with their children, the city centre is ideal. If you stay near Piccadilly Circus, you can walk to many attractions, and it is a nice area with good prices. Staying near Notre Dame, Montmartre, Canal Saint-Martin, Buttes-Chaumont or Châtelet is also a good choice.
Since families often avoid hotels, renting an apartment through the Airbnb website or app is a good alternative. For two adults and two children, you can find nice accommodation for 70 - 100 EUR/night.
