Road Conditions in Split 

The roads in Croatia and Split are generally in very good condition. You can find useful information about traffic in Croatia with Croatian Auto Club (HAK). It is important to drive carefully on Islands and in smaller villages as roads can have potholes, be windy, and the streets are more narrow. So make sure to slow down while going through the villages near Split.

• Speed limits in Croatia are all given in kilometres per hour. In general, the following speed limits apply unless otherwise stated. Inside built-up areas - 50km/h. Outside built-up areas - 90km/h - 110km/h. Motorways - 130km/h 
• Avoid driving during rush hour if possible. The roads can get very congested, especially in the summer.
• Pay attention to traffic signs and signals. They are often different from what you’re used to in other countries.
• Gas stations are open between 7 am and 7 pm, with extended opening hours during the summer until 22:00. 
• The emergency number in Croatia is 112.
